Friendly fraud
Friendly fraud is a card dispute filed by the legitimate cardholder over something they did buy. No stolen card, no criminal: the guest does not recognise the line on their statement, forgets the booking, or uses the bank as a shortcut to cancel. It is the most common kind of chargeback in travel, because the service was already consumed and there is nothing to send back.
Example The guest sees the holding company's name on the statement instead of the hotel's, does not recognise it and calls the bank. The hotel loses a stay it actually delivered.
