Spaniards spend more in summer 2026, but book with a fine-tooth comb
45% of Spaniards will spend more on their summer 2026 vacations and 48% will exceed €1,000 per person, according to a Kayak study covered by Hosteltur. But here's the catch: four out of ten compare before booking:
- Prices
- Schedules
- Baggage rules
- Cancellation policies
- Other travelers' reviews
Kayak calls this traveler the supercomparer (41% of the sample). I find the name a bit much, but the insight is clear: safety and flexibility now outweigh the lowest price. In my view, this is a golden opportunity for hotels and OTAs that communicate transparent policies and refundable options. The customer wants certainty, not just a deal. Adapting to that analytical profile is no longer optional.
