API

An API is the door through which two programs talk and pass data with no human in the middle. In a hotel it is what lets the PMS, the booking engine and the channel manager share availability instantly. When a vendor has no good API, the integration is done by hand and that is where money leaks.

Example Thanks to the API, a booking made on the website shows up in the PMS by itself a second later.
