According to Hosteltur, Civitatis is exploring ways to break into the B2B corporate travel business. Its CEO, Andrés Spitzer, just six months into the role since January, is already setting a new direction.
In my view, this is a smart play. Civitatis has a huge catalog of tours and activities that companies could offer to employees on business trips. That's a differentiator vs. generic OTAsOTAAn online travel agency is a channel that sells accommodation and travel online in exchange for a commission. Booking.com and Expedia are the biggest. They bring volume and visibility, but charge commissions that eat.... But corporate travel isn't just about experiences, it needs integration with expense management and travel policies. If they nail that, they could carve out a nice niche in a segment dominated by traditional agencies.
Spitzer made it clear in the interview that they are in a transformation phase driven by AI. Execution is the real challenge, but the direction feels right.
