VECI secures Nile Palace exclusively for its Nile cruises

Viajes El Corte Inglés (VECI) just made another move in its vertical control strategy for key destinations. From August 31, 2023 through April 26, 2027, the company will exclusively operate the Nile Palace, a four-mast motorship for Nile cruises, according to Hosteltur.

The vessel will be sold through three of its brands: Tourmundial, Club de Vacaciones, and Smytravel. This move reinforces a 40-year relationship with the local supplier and gives VECI a differentiated product in a destination where competition for Spanish-speaking customers is fierce. Packages include visas, Spanish-speaking assistance, and departures from multiple Spanish cities starting at €1,300.

My take: this isn't just a bed-buy. It's about owning the full experience in a red-hot destination. In a market where travelers seek trust and service in their own language, having your own ship with trained staff and Spanish services is a real edge. It also puts pressure on other wholesalers playing in that channel without exclusive product.
