Air Europa has resumed flights to Venezuela, but not to the airport you were expecting. Following the closure of Simón Bolívar International Airport in Caracas due to last week's earthquakes, the airline has opted for an emergency solution: operating from an airport located 150 km from the capital. As reported by Hosteltur, the connection is temporary and aims to maintain the link while damage at Maiquetía is assessed.

What does this mean for the passenger? An extra bus or car transfer that can add between two and three hours to the total journey. For travel agencies, it's time to update packages and be transparent with the client: it's no longer land-and-step-into-Caracas. And for the industry, another lesson on how geopolitical and natural events force airlines to improvise alternative hubs. Meanwhile, logistics from Spain to Venezuela continue, albeit with 150 kilometers of asphalt in between.
