Thompson Sevilla will open in late 2026 in the historic center of the city, transforming the former police station at Plaza de la Gavidia into a luxury hotel. The project is led by Mexican investor Alonso Díez, and will result in 101 rooms and 22 suites with an Andalusian soul.
The building, originally designed by Carlos Ansa, keeps its exterior structure but will be completely renovated inside by interior designer Jorge Lozano. A signature element: the clay lattice by craftsman Adriano Jiménez. Also, the Casa Mayo restaurant, which has been operating since 1963 in the same square, will move into the hotel to offer traditional Sevillian cuisine. According to Hosteltur, the opening is scheduled for September 2026.
