Meliá Hotels International is stepping on the gas in the Eastern Mediterranean. This summer it opens its first hotel in Corfu, its seventh property in Greece, under the Affiliated by Meliá brand with 86 rooms. Located in the north of the island in an exclusive beach area, the hotel aims to attract travelers seeking authentic cultural experiences, as the company confirmed in a note reported by Hosteltur.
The owner is Greek group Concord Group, which has already shown confidence in the Mallorcan brand to manage the asset. But the interesting part comes later: in 2027 the hotel will join The Meliá Collection, the chain's premium sub-brand, after a renovation that will leave it with 140 rooms ready for 2028. It is a smart move for Meliá: start light, test the market, then scale when the product is polished.
While other chains go on a land-buying spree, Meliá shows it also knows how to grow with local partners and a gradual repositioning strategy. And Corfu, with its mix of Venetian history, nature and high-spending holiday demand, is the perfect setting for this premium bet.
