Stoneweg Hospitality and Bain Capital have sold the Mongibello Ibiza hotel to Grupo Ramat (formerly OD Group), which acquires the asset together with a group of private investors. The deal closes the cycle that began in 2022, when both firms bought the property in Santa Eulària des Riu through a joint venture with the aim of repositioning it in the Balearic hotel market.
Managed by Concept Hotel Group, the hotel underwent a full transformation that resulted in the current Mongibello Ibiza. Ramat now steps in with private capital, a move that shows investor appetite for repositioned assets in the Balearics is still hot.
My take: Stoneweg and Bain exiting after only three years makes it clear their play was purely financial. The winner here is Ramat, which gets a product already refurbished and ready to run. Ibiza remains a magnet for capital, but watch out: margins demand ever more operational efficiency.
