Summary: In August, hotels in the region lost guests, but Zamora and Valladolid moved the other way. The data and my take.

## Article

August's headline in Castilla y León is not the one anyone expected. Hotels across the region lost guests, yet **Zamora and Valladolid** rowed the other way, as reported by [Preferente](https://www.preferente.com/noticias-de-agencias-de-viajes/sorpresa-en-castilla-y-leon-solo-reciben-mas-turistas-zamora-y-valladolid-352244.html). Zamora's hotels chalked up **48,650 overnight stays**, up **5.5%** on last year, and Valladolid also closed in positive territory. The rest of the provinces, for now, cannot say the same.

My reading is simple. When domestic demand cools, it does not cool evenly. It drops where the product depends on a single season or a single type of guest. Zamora and Valladolid seem to be pulling a different profile: short getaways, weekends, cultural and proximity tourism. And for an inland hotel, that is what keeps occupancy alive once summer fades.

For a hotelier in the region, the useful question is not why I am losing guests. It is what the hotels in those two provinces are doing right to grow in a soft month. Looking at their channel mix, their last-minute pricing and how they sell their destination tells you more than any general report. That is where the opening sits for everyone else.
