Summary: TikTok crowns 'destination dupes' as the ultimate summer trend: affordable alternatives to overcrowded classics. Plus, #BookTok's literary hotspots rewrite travel itineraries.

## Article

Summer planning now starts on TikTok. The platform has crowned **destination dupes** as the season's top trend: alternatives to overcrowded classics that promise the same vibe at kinder prices and without the selfie sticks. [Hosteltur](https://www.hosteltur.com/177419_los-usuarios-de-tiktok-apuestan-por-los-destinos-clon-para-este-verano.html) reports how the algorithm rewards the authentic (or what looks like it), and that shifts real bookings.

But there is a second unstoppable vector: **the #BookTok craze**. The settings of viral novels become must-visit spots for travelers who want to step into their favorite story. From Edinburgh alleyways to beaches straight out of a bestseller, literary marketing is infiltrating our industry with a force no OTA anticipated. **66% of Europeans** prioritize travel in their summer budget, and TikTok is deciding where that money goes.

My take? This trend is a wake-up call for hotels and destinations: if you are not on TikTok with real content (not polished ads), you are missing a customer who decides in 30 seconds. Destination dupes are not a fad. They are a crack in the traditional tourism map. Whoever reads it right, wins.
