It means retraining crew, redesigning connected customer service processes, and accepting that passengers will expect an instant chat reply at 35,000 feet. The technology takes a quarter to buy, the service culture takes longer.

For hoteliers and destination managers there's a direct read: if the plane already offers decent connectivity, lobby wifi stops being a differentiator and the fight moves elsewhere, to the destination experience and the speed of the human response.
