Summary: SoftBank Robotics will showcase four AI cooking and serving robots at EquipHotel 2026. Europe's foodservice staffing crunch opens the door.

## Article

SoftBank Robotics wants its robots inside EMEA kitchens and dining rooms. As [Hospitality Net](https://www.hospitalitynet.org/news/4134670/softbank-robotics-expands-ai-robotics-solutions-for-foodservice-in-emea) reports, the company will showcase **four AI-powered cooking and serving robots** at **EquipHotel 2026** in Paris, aimed squarely at hospitality and foodservice operators wrestling with thin rosters and tight margins.

The angle is not new, but it makes more sense now than it did three years ago. Europe's shortage of cooks and waiters has not eased, and labour costs keep climbing. That is where SoftBank wants to place its catalogue: robots that take on repetitive cooking and serving tasks so the human team can shift toward what actually moves the needle, guest attention and experience.

My read is that moves like this deserve a sober look. **A robot does not fix a broken operation**, but it can plug a shift you cannot staff. For hotels running their own F&B and high-volume restaurants, the question is no longer whether it makes sense, but when the maths work. We will see in Paris. And that is also where we will see who buys for show and who buys for the numbers.
