Summary: The night auditor closes the books, catches errors and protects revenue. Here's what they really do and why this role deserves more respect.

## Article

**A hotel night is not a pause: it's another shift.** Quieter, but just as decisive. That's where the night auditor works, the unsung hero of hotel operations. As [Noray](https://www.noray.com/auditor-nocturno-que-es-y-cuales-son-sus-funciones-en-el-hotel/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=auditor-nocturno-que-es-y-cuales-son-sus-funciones-en-el-hotel) explains, activity doesn't stop when guests sleep, and someone needs to make sure the day adds up.

In my opinion, this role is the last guardian of revenue before closing. The auditor spends the shift:
- Reviewing and reconciling each guest's charges.
- Spotting wrongly applied discounts or rate errors.
- Closing occupancy and sales reports.
- Solving overnight issues without waking the manager.

I don't know who decided to call it 'auditor' instead of 'revenue saver', but the name falls short. The data they leave ready is exactly what the revenue manager uses in the morning to decide if the price is right.
