My take: visitors are changing where they sleep, not whether they come. ## Article According to [Hosteltur](https://www.hosteltur.com/178010_feria-de-malaga-suben-las-reservas-aereas-pero-cae-la-ocupacion-hotelera.html?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=feria-de-malaga-suben-las-reservas-aereas-pero-cae-la-ocupacion-hotelera), the 2026 Malaga Fair is coming with mixed signals: **flight bookings are up** to the Costa del Sol capital, but **hotel occupancy is down**. So planes are full and beds are left unused. The funny thing is this is no anomaly. My take is that fair visitors no longer sleep where the fair happens. They may come by high-speed train, stay in nearby towns or go for short-term rentals. The traditional hotel watches them pass by without checking in. And there is an opportunity here. If the guest goes to Malaga for the fair but sleeps outside the centre, hotels can sell more than a room: a leisure offer, a fair experience without the chaos or a package with transport. Hotels that adapt to this passing traveller will have a strong summer ahead. ## Sources - Hosteltur: https://www.hosteltur.com/178010_feria-de-malaga-suben-las-reservas-aereas-pero-cae-la-ocupacion-hotelera.html?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=feria-de-malaga-suben-las-reservas-aereas-pero-cae-la-ocupacion-hotelera ## Citation Malaga Fair fills planes but not hotels.
