Summary: International Housekeepers Week (Sept 13-19) reignites the debate on digital tipping: are hotels ready for guests to say thanks without cash?

## Article

**International Housekeepers Week**, running September 13-19, puts a topic many hotels prefer to ignore under the spotlight: how to reward housekeeping staff in a nearly cashless era. [According to eHotelier](https://insights.ehotelier.com/insights/2026/09/01/international-housekeepers-week-in-september-puts-digital-tipping-in-the-spotlight/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=international-housekeepers-week-in-september-puts-digital-tipping-in-the-spotlight), this week is the perfect chance to recognize the hardest-working employees, but also to rethink how their financial recognition flows.

Digital tipping isn't just a tip app. It's an **emotional revenue management** tool: the guest without cash pays by card or phone, and the hotel can measure which floor, which team, which employee performs better. But beware, it has to be done right. If the tip goes to a central pot and the guest suspects it, the effect backfires.

My take: this week is the moment to **pilot a system** on a couple of floors, measure the impact on housekeeping satisfaction, then decide. Hotels that ignore digital tipping will quietly lose talent. And that shows more than any guest satisfaction survey.
