Summary: The Universal Commerce Protocol's lodging draft, adopted by Google for AI hotel booking, has no fields for commissions or room blocks.

## Article

The [lodging draft of the Universal Commerce Protocol](https://www.hospitalitynet.org/opinion/4134738/agentic-booking-has-an-answer-for-travel-agencies-out-of-scope), the standard Google has adopted for its AI hotel booking mode, ships without fields for travel agencies. No commission, no room block, no group terms like attrition. That side of the business is literally **out of scope**.

In plain terms: when a user asks Google's assistant for a hotel, the transaction will close between the connected inventory and the user. If your agency isn't inside that inventory as a recognised party, the AI won't even know how to bill you. It's not malice, it's that the schema was designed with hotels and OTAs in mind, not the intermediation model agencies have defended for decades.

My take: this is a heads-up with plenty of runway. Agencies have room to push for commercial terms to be included before the final version hits production, and to position themselves as a layer of curation and service the AI still can't deliver. Move now and you'll have a say in the draft. Wait until it's locked and you'll find a standard that doesn't speak your language.
